Meet the Breeder

Marceline
Owner, handler, and breeder

Thistle Hill is owned and operated by Marceline, who is directly involved in every aspect of the program - from breeding decisions and puppy placement to the daily care and development of the dogs.

Dogs in the Thistle Hill program are raised, evaluated, and shown under her guidance, with an emphasis on sound structure, stable temperament, and long-term suitability as companions and working dogs.

Because the program remains intentionally small, Marceline is able to observe each dog closely and make thoughtful decisions about breeding, evaluation, and placement.

Experience & Involvement

Marceline is an active owner-handler who participates in multiple conformation venues, including AKC, UKC, and IABCA. Showing her own dogs allows her to evaluate structure, movement, and breed type through independent judges while continuing to develop her own skills as a handler.

Professional handlers may occasionally assist when appropriate, but the program prioritizes owner involvement and hands-on learning.

Ongoing education, mentorship, and participation in the breed community remain an important part of the program’s development. Feedback from experienced judges, breeders, and fellow exhibitors helps inform breeding decisions and long-term goals.

Approach to Breeding & Placement

Breeding decisions at Thistle Hill are guided by structure, health testing, and temperament, with a long-term focus on preserving correct breed type and producing stable, capable dogs.

Puppy placement follows the same philosophy. Rather than selecting puppies based on color or order of inquiry, placements are made through observation and evaluation as personalities begin to develop.

Marceline works closely with each family to ensure the puppy they bring home is a good match for their household, lifestyle, and long-term goals.

Program Operations

Thistle Hill operates as a small, home-based program where puppies are raised with daily interaction, structure, and developmentally appropriate exposure.

Because the program remains intentionally limited in scale, each litter receives close observation during the early weeks of life. This allows for thoughtful evaluation of temperament, resilience, and adaptability as puppies grow.

Marceline remains available to families after puppies go home and maintains lifelong responsibility for every dog bred through the program.
